1. Introduction
Welcome to Digital Larynx (“we,” “our,” or “us”). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclosure, and safeguard your information when you visit our website or use the Digital Larynx desktop application (the “Software”).
By accessing or using our Service, you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to our collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in two ways: information you provide directly to us and information automatically collected through your use of the Software.
A. Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you register for an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials via our auth provider, Supabase.
- Payment Information: If you subscribe to a paid tier (Casual, Gamer, Pro, Streamer, or Hardcore), our payment processor, Stripe, collects your credit card details and billing information. We do not store your full credit card information on our servers.
- User Content: This includes game scripts, custom character mappings, and voice assignments you create or upload. While your active library is stored locally on your device in an SQLite database , we sync this data to our cloud database (Supabase) to allow for backup and cross-device functionality.
B. Automated Data Collection & App Functionality
Digital Larynx functions by capturing specific regions of your screen to read text. It is important to understand how this data is handled:
- Screen Capture & OCR: The Software captures visual data from the screen region you define.
- Standard Processing: By default, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and text processing are performed locally on your device using Tesseract.js. This data is not sent to the cloud.
- Smart Vision (AI Analysis): If you use the “Smart Vision” feature (available in paid tiers), screenshots of the target area are securely transmitted to OpenAI (GPT-4o) for analysis to infer text and context. These images are processed for the request and are not used by us to train models.
- Text-to-Speech (TTS) Generation: When the app generates audio using cloud voices, the text lines are sent to ElevenLabs to generate the audio file. This text data is processed strictly for the purpose of audio generation.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Digital Larynx application.
- Process your subscription payments and manage “Credits” for AI usage.
- Sync your game library and settings across devices.
- Improve our OCR accuracy and script matching algorithms.
- Send you administrative information, such as updates on software versions (e.g., Windows updates or future Mac/Linux support).
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We utilize trusted third-party services to provide the core functionality of Digital Larynx. We may share data with the following partners:
- Supabase: Used for authentication, database hosting, and cloud syncing of scripts.
- Stripe: Used for secure payment processing and subscription management.
- ElevenLabs: Used for high-quality cloud AI voice generation.
- OpenAI: Used for the “Smart Vision” feature to analyze unscripted game text.
- IGDB (Internet Game Database): Used to fetch game metadata (cover art, release dates) when you use the “Add Game” wizard.
5. Data Storage and Security
- Hybrid Storage: Digital Larynx uses a hybrid data model. Your personal preferences and active sessions are stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite file. Your account data and synced scripts are stored securely in the cloud via Supabase.
- Security Measures: We use industry-standard encryption protocols (SSL/TLS) to protect data transmitted between the Software and our APIs. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Data Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: You can update your account details directly within the application settings.
- Deletion: You may request that we delete your account and associated cloud data. Note that this will not delete the local data stored on your personal computer (SQLite files), which you must delete manually.
7. Children’s Privacy
Digital Larynx is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date.
